Davenport, Lumpkin Make History Behind 18 3-Pointers [VIDEO]

It was the Isabel Davenport and Lexi Pierce show on senior night Tuesday in Dahlonega, as Lumpkin County (18-4, 9-1 in 7-AAA) smashed West Hall (1-17, 0-10) 96-10.

The Lady Indians made history on Tuesday night in many ways, including setting a single-season school record for wins (18) and draining 18 3-pointers in the process. Davenport had 7 3-pointers as part of a 27-point effort. Her last basket of the night, a triple with 2:10 left in the fourth, made her Lumpkin’s second-leading scorer in school history.

The Lady Indians put on a clinic with the 18 trays, seven each from Davenport and Pierce, who finished with 21 points. Lumpkin seemingly couldn’t miss, as Davenport, Pierce, Averie Jones, and Makenzie Caldwell all collected exactly 12 points in the first half.

Lumpkin was up 16-2 in no time, and a 29-4 lead after one suddenly became 52-4 going into the break after a 23-0 second quarter. The second half was just as good. Along with Davenport’s 27 and Pierce’s 21, Jones ended with 17 points and Caldwell 12.

NOTE: We are doing homework to figure out if the 18 3PT are a state record for single game in girls basketball.
