Leopards Pounce on Union Early, Cruise to Blowout Win [VIDEO]

#10-ranked Banks County (15-7, 3-1 in 8-AA) picked up a region win at home over visiting Union County (0-7, 0-2) on Tuesday night. When the final horn sounded in an abbreviated fourth quarter, it was Banks County who came out on top in a 77-42 lopsided win.

It was 20-0 after the first quarter, and the Leopards held Union from a field goal until five minutes left in the first half. By then the game was all but over, as Pierce Martin and company connected on 6 3-pointers in the first half alone.

Banks County led 36-8 at the break, and the third quarter saw a huge uptick in offense, as the Leopards outscored a jumpstart Panthers group, 27-16 in the quarter. With Banks holding a commanding 63-24 lead going into the fourth, it meant a 6-minute abbreviated quarter to end the game.

Martin led all scorers with 19, including nailing 5 trays. Garrett Presley had 14 points and Dakota Orr 11. Clay Gosnell also contributed with 7 for the Leopards, as 8 different players recorded points. Union County was led by Eli Underwood, who had 10 points. Landon Knight had 9 as well for the Panthers.
