Rabun’s McKay, Tallulah’s Keene Named POW Winners


The Player of the Week Fan Vote for Boys Basketball Player of the Week earned 20,413 votes, with Rabun County’s Connor McKay (6,731 votes) edging out Lumpkin County’s Gus Faulkner (6,349). BLITZ then picked Tallulah Falls’ Gabe Keene as Co-POW.

Rabun County junior motors on toward a Player of the Year type of season. The guard/forward averaged 22 pts, 12 boards, 4 assists, and 2.5 blocks over 2 games last week. That totaled 44 PTS, 24 REB, 8 AST, and 5 BLK. He shot 60% in the process. This is McKay’s third POW award this season and fourth of his career.

GABE KEENE – BLITZ PICK

Tallulah Falls standout junior guard Gabe Keene is having a really good season. In two games last week, he scored 49 points (24.5 per game), collected 15 rebounds (7.5 RPG), 4 blocks (2 BPG), 6 steals (3 SPG), and had an assist in a pair of wins for #10-ranked TFS. This is Keene’s first POW award.
