Rabun’s Deetz, White’s Futch Tabbed Players of the Week


The Player of the Week Fan Vote for Girls Basketball Player of the Week tallied 12,044 votes, with Rabun County’s Gracie Deetz tallying 9,922 to win the Fan Vote. BLITZ then picked White County’s Maddie Futch as Co-POW.

GRACIE DEETZ – FAN VOTE

Rabun County junior guard/forward Gracie Deetz was poised for a big season, and she’s following through with that hype. Her #1 Lady Wildcats are still unbeaten through 9 games this season, and Deetz’ play has been pivotal. In 3 games last week, Deetz shot 85% from the free throw line. She averaged 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 blocks per contest over that stretch, totaling 48 points, 21 rebounds, and 6 blocks, while also taking 4 charges. This is Deetz’ second POW award this season, with the other coming in volleyball.

MADDIE FUTCH – BLITZ PICK

White County senior Maddie Futch joined elite company with collecting her 500th career rebound last week. During the 2 games for the Lady Warriors, she averaged 23.5 points, 13.5 boards, and 5 steals, while shooting 65% from the field and 94% at the line. That’s a grand total of 47 points, 27 rebounds, and 10 steals during those games. This is Futch’s first POW award.
