Well-Balanced Stephens County Takes Top-10 Matchup at Tallulah [VIDEO]

The #6-ranked Lady Indians of Stephens County (7-1) took a 70-55 win on Saturday at #9 Tallulah Falls (7-3), using a huge first half and a plethora of scorers in the win. Tallulah Falls had a fourth quarter comeback attempt fall short, despite incredible play from Veronaye Charlton, who led all scorers with 22 points.

Stephens County had 4 players reach double figures in scoring, including Bre Taylor and Ranajah Verdell, who scored 18 and 16 respectively. Teammates Tynajiah Eades (16 pts) and Savana Broska (10 pts) also scored in double figures. Brooklyn Steeple rounded out the scoring with 3 points.

Stephens raced out to a 23-15 score after one quarter, and upped that lead to 39-27 going into the break. Tallulah Falls’ Macy Murdock hit a crazy 3-pointer heading into the half.

The Stephens lead reached well over 20 points during the third quarter, and it was 59-38 going into the fourth. TFS had a nice comeback attempt, but Stephens County made good on attempts at the line to close it down.

Behind Charlton, TFS was led by Denika Lightbourne and her 17 points. Katy Corbett had 7, Murdock 5, and Kailyn Neal 4.
