Jadon Yeh’s 3-Point Play Helps Warriors Stave Off Dawson Comeback Attempt [VIDEO]

You got your money’s worth if you caught the 7-AAA opener between rivals Dawson and White. The Warriors (4-4; 1-0 in 7-AAA) won 59-58, as sophomore Jadon Yeh stole an inbounds pass and converted a 3-point play to help White County hold off a furious Dawson County comeback attempt. The Tigers (3-4; 0-1) outscored White County 28-23 in the second half, and took a lead late in the fourth.

With under a minute to go and a 2-point lead with the ball, Dawson inbounded a pass that was picked off by Yeh, who raced in for a score and one more. His free throw gave White County the 59-58 lead in the final seconds. Dawson County had one more chance, but Joakeim Celestin’s deep shot rimmed out, securing the region-opening win for White.

The Warriors set the pace early as Yeh scored 12 of his team-high 19 points in the first quarter. The Warriors were up 18-13 at that point, and padded the lead to 36-30 at the break.

Dawson County got hot in the second half when Jake Craft went wild from 3-point range, draining 5 total triples in the game as part of his 17 points. Celestin also was on fire, dropping a game-high 20 points.

All told, Dawson got 9 3-pointers on the evening, while White County drilled 6 of their own. Behind Yeh’s 19 points, Silas Mulligan had 17, while Cooper Turner and Jimmy King both finished with 7, and Kenny Simpson 5. Reece Dockery had 4 for the Warriors. The Tigers also featured Jaden Gibson’s 6 points (both 3-pointers), Tyler Lane’s 7 points, Luke Mulberry’s and Ty Whitmire’s 3 points, and Max Tierney’s 2.
