Seniors Corkery, Windham Shine Bright, Earn Weekly Honors

The Player of the Week Fan Vote notched 46,273 votes, with Rabun County’s Hoff Windham (22,602) earning the top spot. BLITZ then named Paxton Corkery (Jefferson) as the Co-POW, as he happened to finish second in the voting with 20,822.

Hoff Windham has had a monster 2020 season. The senior linebacker has been a mainstay on the Wildcats defense, and had a sensational round two performance in the Rabun win over Model. Windham had 8 tackles and 2.5 for loss, and now for the season has 92 tackles (7.5 TFL), an interception, and a fumble recovery. Since his junior year, the linebacker has 181 total tackles (23 for loss), 4 sacks, 3 INT, 2 fumble recoveries, 2 forced fumbles, 1 blocked punt, 2 QB hurries, and a pass deflection. This is Windham’s first POW award.

Jefferson senior Paxton Corkery had a great performance against Hapeville Charter. As usual, when a big play was needed, the DE/RB was ready to make that play. Corkery, a former Lineman of the Week this season, earns Player of the Week honors after getting it done on both sides.

Corkery had 3 tackles on defense, and on offense had a big-time TD run as well as a 2-point conversion. He has 106 rushing yards on the season with 2 TD, 37 total tackles (11 for loss), 5 Sacks, and 2 fumble recoveries.
