Football Power Rankings – End Of Regular Season

End of the Regular Season Power Rankings are here. Congrats on our local teams who made the playoffs.

#1 JEFFERSON

LAST RANK: #1
RECORD: 10-0 (6-0)
LAST: W 47-0 @ Madison County
NEXT: vs Mt. Zion (ROUND 1)

The Dragons begin their title quest at home against Mt. Zion in round one, following a 47-0 blowout win over Madison County to cap an undefeated regular season.

#2 RABUN COUNTY

LAST RANK: #2
RECORD: 9-1 (3-0)
LAST: BYE
NEXT: vs Haralson County (ROUND 1)

#1-ranked Rabun had a much-deserved bye week to rest up for the playoff run. It begins with Haralson County at home. The Wildcats closed the regular season as the #1-ranked offense in the entire state of Georgia.

#3 COMMERCE

LAST RANK: #3
RECORD: 9-1 (5-0)
LAST: W 17-7 vs Lincoln County
NEXT: vs Manchester (ROUND 1)

The Tigers earned an outright region championship with a hard-fought 17-7 win over Lincoln County. Next up is Manchester, as Commerce seeks to make a really deep playoff run.

#4 WHITE COUNTY

LAST RANK: #5
RECORD: 8-2 (4-2)
LAST: W 48-7 @ #8 Cherokee Bluff
NEXT: @ Rockmart (ROUND 1)

The Warriors did something no one else has been able to do all season. That is, knock off third-year wonders Cherokee Bluff. The region champion Bears couldn’t handle J Ben Haynes, Silas Mulligan, and Darius Cannon. It was a blowout, monumental win for White County, who hits the road as probably the toughest 4-seed in the state. Before anyone complains, yes…we know Dawson beat White County head-to-head, but these rankings are also taking into consideration the full body of work. Right now, we feel the Warriors are here.

#5 HABERSHAM CENTRAL

LAST RANK: #6
RECORD: 6-4 (4-2)
LAST: W 62-14 vs Central Gwinnett (Tuesday) & W 45-37 @ Shiloh (Saturday)
NEXT: @ Rome (ROUND 1)

The Raiders are playing their best ball we’ve seen in a long time. The offense is clicking very well, as evidenced by a 62-point output against Central Gwinnett. The win over Shiloh was even more impressive, as Hab battled back from down 28 to win that game and clinch a playoff spot and #3 seed. Also, these guys just won 2 games in a 5-day span. That’s insane. Now the Raiders hit the road to take on Rome.

#6 DAWSON COUNTY

LAST RANK: #4
RECORD: 5-5 (4-2)
LAST: L 21-34 @ North Hall
NEXT: @ Adairsville (ROUND 1)

Dawson County fell behind 21-0 quickly to North Hall, and were never able to fully recover. Add in the loss of Isaiah Grindle early in the game due to a leg injury, and it put a bigger damper on the night for the Tigers. They must regroup and focus on Adairsville as they hit the road for the opening round of the playoffs.

#7 STEPHENS COUNTY

LAST RANK: #7
RECORD: 5-3 (1-2)
LAST: W 61-12 vs East Jackson
NEXT: NONE

Stephens County went out with a bang in a 61-12 win over East Jackson. With a couple of games they had to can due to COVID concerns, it left the Indians out of the playoff picture. However, ending the way they did was a momentum grabber going into the offseason.

#8 UNION COUNTY

LAST RANK: #9
RECORD: 4-5 (1-2)
LAST: W 7-0 @ Gilmer
NEXT: @ Heard County (ROUND 1)

Union County got a desperately-needed win in their regular season finale against non-region foes Gilmer. That leads into the playoffs, where the Panthers travel to Heard County in the opening round.

#9 TOWNS COUNTY

LAST RANK: #8
RECORD: 3-6 (1-3)
LAST: L 0-34 @ #9 Washington-Wilkes
NEXT: NONE

Towns County fell in 34-0 in their season finale, finishing the year at 3-6 overall.

#10 BANKS COUNTY

LAST RANK: #10
RECORD: 1-9 (0-3)
LAST: L 6-36 @ Elbert County
NEXT: @ Callaway

Banks County has struggled big-time this year, and the Elbert game was another example. The Leopards will take on the tall task as a #4 seed and travel to a powerhouse team like Callaway in the opening round.

#11 LUMPKIN COUNTY

LAST RANK: #11
RECORD: 0-10 (0-6)
LAST: L 13-56 vs West Hall
NEXT: NONE

Lumpkin County finishes off the season with a 56-13 loss to West Hall, closing the book on 2020 for this group.
