Habersham EMC Linemen of the Week: Chris Thompson / Logan Berry

Brand New for 2020 – the Habersham EMC Linemen of the Week. Long have people asked for the guys who do the dirty work to get more recognition. Now, they do. Each week in the 2020 season, we will recognize an offensive lineman (or the full line as it is often a joint effort), and a defensive lineman, sponsored by Habersham EMC.

This week’s winners are Chris Thompson (Rabun) for the O-Line, and Logan Berry (Dawson) for the D-Line.

CHRIS THOMPSON – RABUN COUNTY

Junior Chris Thompson claims his second such award of the season, earning it previously on the defensive side of the ball. He’s also won it as part of the full Rabun OL earlier in the season. Thompson stood out in the 63-14 win over Union that gave the Wildcats a seventh straight region championship. He had a 91% grade and recorded 6 knockdowns.

LOGAN BERRY – DAWSON COUNTY

Dawson County junior defensive end Logan Berry had a spectacular performance in the win over rivals Lumpkin. He registered 6 solo tackles and 5 assisted tackles for a grand total of 11. He had one tackle for loss and had 2 sacks in the game. For the season, Berry has 31 tackles (7 for loss), 5 sacks, and a fumble recovery.

His 2 pressures led to interceptions. He led the Dragon defense, which completely handcuffed the War Eagle run game, holding Chestatee to only 45 yards on 29 carries for a 1.6 yard average per carry. Bailey is the son of former UGA star and NFL player Boss Bailey and nephew of NFL Hall of Famer Champ Bailey. This is Bailey’s first BLITZ award.
