THE LOCALS

#1 Rabun County 63, Union County 14

Rabun County claimed a seventh straight region championship with a win over Union, also marking a seventh straight win on the season and a seventh in a row over the arch-rivals. Gunner Stockton had 8 TD (6 passing, 2 rushing), passing Bailey Fisher on the all-time passing TD list at #6 in state history. Adriel Clark had 4 TDs, while Lang Windham had 2.

Dawson County 63, Lumpkin County 3

Lumpkin had an early 3-0 lead before Zach Holtzclaw threw a 69-yd TD to Dakohta Sonnichsen. Joey Glover had a 99-yd scoop-n-score when it appeared the Indians would take a lead. Holtzclaw threw an 8-yd TD to Tyler Lane, Isaiah Grindle added a 42-yd TD run, and a 34-yd TD from Holtzclaw again to Sonnichsen made it 35-3. The Tigers cruised to the 63-3 win.

Social Circle 34, Towns County 27

It was a thriller in Hiawassee, as the Indians couldn’t hold off Social Circle, who took a 34-27 win.

#3 Commerce 28, #5 Washington-Wilkes 17

Trey Huff had a game to remember. A TD in the first half from a yard out made it 14-0 for the Tigers early in the second. Washington-Wilkes scored 17 unanswered, including a field goal at the halftime horn to go up 17-14. That score held up until the fourth. Huff scored two more TDs for the 28-17 lead and win, which gives Commerce a region title!
