Law Leads Lady Dragons to Region Title; Jefferson Boys Place Third


The Region 8-AAAA Championship meet was Saturday, hosted by North Oconee. It was Chestatee who won the boys race, and Jefferson who won the girls.
Chestatee’s Luke Gaddis won by nearly 30 seconds in the boys championship races, as 7 of the top 12 runners were War Eagles. Jefferson placed third, as Matthew Schroeder led the way with a 5th-place finish (17:05). Levi Holliday came in 9th to ensure the Dragons a third place finish, which qualifies them for the state meet.
The girls meet featured Katherine Law as the region champion individually, as she clocked a 18:56, 35 seconds faster than the next runner. Jefferson came in first, also qualifying for state as a team. Caitlin Schroeder was 4th, Kiley Powell 5th, Sydney Bowles 6th, and Kate James 9th for the Lady Dragons.
