End of Regular Season Volleyball Power Rankings

The finish line for the regular season has arrived, and we present our End of Regular Season Power Rankings.

#1 LUMPKIN COUNTY

RECORD: 25-9 (5-4)
LAST RANKING: #5
PLAYOFFS: #1 seed vs Murray County

The Lady Indians finished extremely strong, flexing for a region championship, the first in school history for volleyball. Lumpkin had wins over Tallulah Falls, Union, Habersham, Dawson, and White twice and Rabun three times. The only losses to local teams were twice to White and once to Habersham. Lumpkin takes on Murray County in the opening round of state at home.

#2 JEFFERSON

RECORD: 27-7 (9-0)
LAST RANKING: #3
PLAYOFFS: #1 seed vs North Clayton

Jefferson finished strong, claiming another region championship! The Lady Dragons are playing North Clayton at home in the opening round of state, and beat Tallulah Falls and Rabun throughout the season, while dropping a pair to Habersham Central. The way they finished, and the full body of work and team success has them up here.

#3 TALLULAH FALLS

RECORD: 18-14 (4-1)
LAST RANKING: #4
PLAYOFFS: #2 seed vs Mt. Vernon

Tallulah Falls closed out with a region runner-up finish, and host Mt. Vernon in the opening round of the state tournament. The Lady Indians beat Habersham, White, and Rabun (twice) in the season, while dropping matches to White (twice), Lumpkin, and Jefferson.

#4 WHITE COUNTY

RECORD: 23-8 (7-2)
LAST RANKING: #1
PLAYOFFS: #2 seed vs Ringgold

The Lady Warriors didn’t get the region title they wanted, but finished as runner-up and host Ringgold in the opening round of state. White County earned wins this season over Tallulah Falls (twice), Stephens (twice), Rabun (twice), Lumpkin (twice), Habersham, and Union. They fell to Tallulah Falls once, Lumpkin twice, and another time to Habersham.

#5 HABERSHAM CENTRAL

RECORD: 16-13 (3-3)
LAST RANKING: #2
PLAYOFFS: N/A

Habersham Central stumbled at the end, and narrowly missed making the playoffs. That shouldn’t detract from what was a solid season that saw wins over local teams like Jefferson (twice), Lumpkin, White, Stephens, and Union. Losses came against Lumpkin, Tallulah Falls, and White as well.

#6 UNION COUNTY

RECORD: 16-7 (8-0)
LAST RANKING: #6
PLAYOFFS: #1 seed vs Atlanta Clas

Union County had an incredible run to end the regular season, and claimed the region title in the process. The Lady Panthers will host an ATL school in the first round. Wins include beating Banks three times, Commerce twice, and once each over Rabun and Stephens. Losses came against Habersham, Lumpkin, White, and Dawson twice.

#7 RABUN COUNTY

RECORD: 10-21 (5-3)
LAST RANKING: #7
PLAYOFFS: N/A

Rabun County narrowly missed going to state. The Lady Cats had wins over Banks and Commerce, but had losses to Lumpkin three times, twice each to White and Tallulah Falls, and once each to Jefferson, Banks, and Union.

#8 BANKS COUNTY

RECORD: 12-17 (5-4)
LAST RANKING: #8
PLAYOFFS: #4 seed at Pace Academy

Banks County in its first season ever made the state playoffs, and had wins over Commerce and Rabun mixed in with losses to Rabun, Dawson, and Union (three times). The Lady Leopards will play at Pace Academy in the first round of state.

#9 DAWSON COUNTY

RECORD: 4-14 (1-3)
LAST RANKING: #9
PLAYOFFS: N/A

The Lady Tigers finished fifth in region, thus not advancing to state. Injuries plagued this team all season, as the girls just couldn’t find consistency or rhythm. Dawson did beat Union twice at its peak, and Banks also, but also fell to Lumpkin once. If healthy, this team would have been likely hosting a playoff game.

#10 STEPHENS COUNTY

RECORD: 7-17 (5-5)
LAST RANKING: #10
PLAYOFFS: #4 seed @ Westminster

The Lady Indians advance to the playoffs after getting hot at the right time. Stephens fell to local teams White (twice), Habersham, and Union this season. The girls will travel to Westminster to open the playoffs.

#11 COMMERCE

RECORD: 1-18 (1-7)
LAST RANKING: #11
PLAYOFFS: N/A

Commerce in its first season finished 1-18 overall, and fell to locals Union (twice), Banks, and Rabun.
