Rabun’s Windham, White’s Haynes Earn Player of the Week Award

The first Player of the Week awards for 2020 are Rabun’s Lang Windham and White’s J Ben Haynes. Windham took the Fan Vote with 5,807 votes of the total 13,617. BLITZ picked Haynes as the Co-POW.

It was an unforeseen performance by Lang Windham, who came out of nowhere to claim Player of the Week honors. Windham was a force to be reckoned with at Ridgeland in the season opener, and was rarely stopped.

All told, the sophomore back tallied 148 rushing yards, and added 39 receiving yards for a total of 187 yards of offense. He scored the first TD of the season for the #1-ranked Wildcats, and averaged 10.6 yards per carry.

It was a historic performance for J Ben Haynes in the season-opening win for the Warriors. In turn, White County is now in the state rankings, debuting at #9 in Class 3A. Haynes had a 5 TD game against Stephens County, accounting for nearly 400 yards of offense. He threw for 325 yards and 3 TD, and rushed for roughly 70 and another pair of scores.

This is Haynes’ third career Player of the Week award. He now has 5,632 passing yards and 40 TD, along with 1,389 rushing yards and 22 TD. That’s a grand total of 7,021 yards and 62 TD!
