Habersham EMC Linemen of the Week – Will McCraw (DL), White County O-Line

Brand New for 2020 – the Habersham EMC Linemen of the Week. Long have people asked for the guys who do the dirty work to get more recognition. Now, they do. Each week in the 2020 season, we will recognize an offensive lineman (or the full line as it is often a joint effort), and a defensive lineman, sponsored by Habersham EMC.

The first-ever winners are White County’s full offensive line, and Rabun County’s Will McCraw.

White County had a monster game by the offense, in particular quarterback J Ben Haynes. But Haynes would even admit his job was made easy in a 44-6 win over Stephens County because of his guys up front.

Those guys are LT JD Trowell (sophomore), LG Jaquez Williams (senior), C Trenton O’Kelly (sophomore), RG Harmon Grier (senior), and RT Alex Garcia (senior). Usual LT Devin Sullens was hurt and did not play, but typically is a big part of this unit. He should return for Week 2.

Time and again throughout the season-opening win over Stephens, the line gave so much room, time, and cushion for Haynes to operate and breathe a little. They paved the way for 44 points, 6 touchdowns, and over 400 yards of offense. They graded out in the 90s, and let Haynes get sacked exactly ZERO times.

OTHERS WHO STOOD OUT: Stephens County’s Kalik Sullivan (83% grade, 10 pancakes, no sacks, no penalties), Rabun’s entire O-Line, Habersham’s entire O-Line

Rabun’s Will McCraw got off to a blistering start for the 2020 season. He was a HUGE reason why the #1-ranked Wildcats’ defense shut out Ridgeland in Week 1. The junior defensive end constantly put pressure on the quarterback, recording two sacks and eight total tackles in the 35-0 win.

OTHERS WHO STOOD OUT: Habersham’s Tanner Wade (2 sacks, 8 tackles)
