Habersham Holds Orange Versus Blue Scrimmage [VIDEO]

The Habersham Raiders held a preseason intrasquad scrimmage, dubbed the Orange versus Blue game. Team Orange consisted of primarily the first team offense, including standouts Joshua Pickett at QB, Jackson Clouatre at RB, Grayson Taylor and Austin Wood at WR, and others.

The game including a fairly close to regular first half, with typical rules and clock operations. The game featured officials as well. The second half was less structured and lent itself more as a situational scrimmage.

It didn’t take long for Orange to go up with an early TD pass good for about 60 yards from Pickett to Taylor. The extra point missed, so Orange was up 6-0. Blue drove down the field, but an end zone pass was intercepted by Orange’s Clouatre, who returned the pick about 30 or 40 yards.

Blue eventually got on the board with a TD pass from the backup QB Carson Parker, to number 44. (2020 rosters are not yet finalized with names and numbers). The extra point was good, putting Blue up 7-6, which would hold through the full first half.

Pickett did have some nice plays mixed in, including a 40-50 yard pass play to Wood that got Orange into the red zone. They were turned away on downs, despite a confusion where Pickett lost the ball, and Taylor pounced on it in the end zone for what would have been a touchdown by Orange.

Jared White also recorded an interception for Blue later in the half.

Habersham Central opens the 2020 season next Friday, September 4 at home against Madison County.
