Rabun County native Woerner signs 4-year deal with niners

The San Francisco 49ers saved the best for last. Charlie Woerner was officially signed to a four-year deal on Monday, capping the team’s signings of all their 2020 NFL Draft picks.

Woerner was the sixth round pick and 190th overall selection by San Francisco. The tight end, who just finished a solid career at the University of Georgia, has the opportunity to work alongside and glean from one of the top tight ends in the NFL, George Kittle.

The Rabun County product, listed at 6’5 and 241 pounds, played 54 games and started 19 at UGA. He had 34 catches and 376 yards to go with his lone touchdown. Despite being a primarily blocking tight end, the Bulldogs underutilized Woerner, who is a dangerous weapon when the ball is in his hands.

The do-it-all player while at Rabun County, he finished his high school career with over 5,000 yards of offense, accounting for 66 TD. He recorded 2,358 yds rushing (36 TD) & 2,703 receiving (30 TD). He also had 428 tackles (17 for loss) and 12 INT for 249 return yards. For those who need reminding of just how good Woerner was while leading the Wildcats, just check this video out!
