Cotton, Stockton named Baseball Players of the Week

Banks County’s Caden Cotton (14,179 votes) took the majority of the 27,559 to win the Fan Vote Player of the Week. BLITZ then named Gunner Stockton (Rabun) as a Co-Player of the Week.

CADEN COTTON (FAN VOTE)

Banks County has had an incredible start to the 2020 season, and Caden Cotton has led that charge at least for the past week. The senior pitcher picks up his first POW award after throwing a complete game shutout last week, earning a win while striking out 7 batters. He also hit .750 (3-for-4) with 2 RBI.

GUNNER STOCKTON (BLITZ PICK)

Made you look, didn’t we? It’s not fall/football season, so you might be surprised to see Gunner Stockton win a Player of the Week award in baseball. But he’s that stellar of an athlete. As of late, Stockton has raked at the plate, batting .600 (6-for-10) last week in 3 games. The sophomore shortstop blasted a homer, double, and triple, and even walked 3 times, while scoring 3 runs and logging an insane 1.892 slugging percentage. This is Stockton’s first Player of the Week award in baseball, and his 10th overall in his still-young career (the other 9 in football).
