Lumpkin’s Pierce, Banks’ Cleveland earn weekly award

Lexi Pierce (Lumpkin County) took the Fan Vote for Player of the Week honors after capturing 5,260 of the 10,557 total votes. BLITZ then picked Banks County’s Carl Cleveland as Co-Player of the Week.

LEXI PIERCE (FAN VOTE)

Lexi Pierce has played ahead of her freshman tag that accompanies her. The Lumpkin County guard has been a solid piece around stars Isabel Davenport and Kate Jackson. That was never more evident than last week when she went for 16 points in a Lady Indians’ win. This is Pierce’s first Player of the Week award.

CARL CLEVELAND (BLITZ PICK)

Carl Cleveland once again earns the award after ANOTHER triple-double. The guard/forward combo eclipsed 2,000 career points earlier this season, and it appears he’s just getting warmed up for the playoff run.
In helping guide the Leopards to a region championship (regular season) last week, he had a game in which he tallied 27 points, 10 boards, and 11 assists. For the year, he averages 24.5 points per game, along with 12.7 rebounds, 5.2 assists, and 1.6 steals, as well as 0.9 blocks. He’s shooting 45% from the floor. This is Cleveland’s seventh career Player of the Week award, making him one of only 5 others to win that many awards.
