Shook, Penick, Mulligan earn nod for Player of the Week

Towns County’s Sophia Shook (4,823 votes) took the majority of the total 17,233 votes to claim Player of the Week honors. She edged fellow TC athlete Kyle Oakes (4,301) and Habersham’s Addie Penick (3,257). BLITZ picked both Penick and White County’s Silas Mulligan as Co-POW winners.

Sophia Shook earns her first Player of the Week award after dropping 14.5 points, 3 steals, and 2.5 assists over two games last week. The senior guard has helped the Lady Indians to a 3-3 mark in region play this year.

ADDIE PENICK (BLITZ PICK)


Habersham Central guard Addie Penick averaged 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 9 assists over two games last week for the Lady Raiders. The junior even notched a rare triple-double. She has helped lead the girls to 11 wins this season, and has them on the cusp of making the playoffs.
In both games, Habersham won against Apalachee and Gainesville. Penick dropped 12 points, 7 assists, and 4 rebounds, taking 2 charges in the win over Apalachee. Against Gainesville, she tallied the triple-double with 18 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists. This is her second Player of the Week award, as she had one as a sophomore in soccer last season.

SILAS MULLIGAN (BLITZ PICK)


Silas Mulligan has balled out this season, especially as of late. The athlete is making a name for himself early on at White County, and plays above his class level (sophomore). In recent games, two last week, he averaged 12.5 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals per contest. This is the guard’s first Player of the Week award.
