Weidner, Indians lead wire-to-wire in blowout of Commerce [VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS]


It was never in question on Tuesday night in Tallulah Falls, as the home Indians (7-9; 2-1 in 8-A) grabbed a huge region win over Commerce (11-8; 1-4), 71-38.

Matthew Weidner dropped in a game-high 23 points, while sitting out nearly the entire fourth quarter. Tallulah Falls led wire-to-wire, going up by as many as 33, which was the spread at the final horn.
The Indians got off to a quick start, going on a 7-0 run, as Weidner scored 10 points in the first quarter alone. After Commerce got on the board, TFS went on a 15-2 run to take a commanding 25-9 lead into the second.

Back-to-back 3-pointers by Juan Bachiller and Devonte Allen got the lead up to 26 in the second quarter, and Tallulah Falls had a comfy 43-19 lead heading into the locker room. Weidner by the half had 14, while teammate Hayden Johnson had 11 at that point.

The Indians stretched the lead to 55-31 after the third, and in the fourth outscored the Tigers 16-7 for the 71-38 final.
Weidner had the 23 points, including a pair of triples, while Johnson had 13 including 3 from downtown. Sammy Davis had 9 points, Allen had 7, and Bachiller had 5 for the Indians. Five other Indians scored baskets, bringing the total scorers number to 10 in the game.
The Tigers were led by Ian McConnell and his 10 points, while Creed Dunbar had 8 in the loss and Cayden Lord 7.
