Tallulah Falls stormed Commerce from the opening tip, opening the game on an 11-1 run on the way to a 47-33 win at home. Katy Corbett led all scorers with 20 points, including the first 9 for the Lady Indians (10-5; 2-1 in 8-A) as TFS downed the visiting Lady Tigers (11-8; 1-4).
Corbett drilled 5 3-pointers in the win, and scored 13 in the first half. Tallulah Falls led 17-6 at the end of the first. Commerce rebounded with a solid second quarter, cutting the deficit to 29-21 with a Maggie Mullis 3-pointer at the buzzer.
However, TFS opened the second half on a 9-1 run to open things up, and led 44-28 heading into the final quarter. The Lady Indians played keepaway in the fourth, not allowing a single bucket to Commerce, who notched 5 free throws in the final 8 minutes. Tallulah Falls also only scored one basket in the quarter, but eased to the finish line with a 47-33 win.
Denika Lightbourne had 15 for Tallulah Falls, including 12 in the first half. Veronaye Charlton finished with 8, while Barrett Whitener and Kailyn Neal both had two points each.
For the Lady Tigers, it was Bryanna Sanders and Ragan Allen pacing the offense, with both scoring 8 points. Grace and Carson Hobbs both had 6, while Mullis had 3, and Sarah Webb and Lauren Massey both recording one point in the loss.
