Cannon, Cleveland grab first POW honors of hoops season
White County’s Dasha Cannon earned the first Player of the Week award of the 2019-20 hoops season, taking 5,300 votes out of a total of 9,636. BLITZ then chose Banks County’s Carl Cleveland as co-Player of the Week.
DASHA CANNON (FAN VOTE)
Dasha Cannon takes the first Player of the Week award of the 2019-20 season. For the junior guard, she tallied 17 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 3.5 steals per contest over the first two games for White County.
This included 25 points against Lumpkin County, and 10 versus West Forsyth. Cannon is a frequent flyer for this award, as she has laid claim to 6 such awards during her career.

CARL CLEVELAND (BLITZ PICK)
Like Cannon, above, Carl Cleveland wins this thing like it’s going out of style. He has now won 5 career Player of the Week awards, and is the reigning BLITZ Player of the Year. He’s poised to eclipse 2,000 career points in a matter of games.
He opened the season with a torrid 2-game stretch, averaging 27 points, 14.5 rebounds, 6 assists, 3.5 steals, and 1.5 blocks. Sounds ridiculous, but he’s not even playing his best ball yet. The automatic double-doubler went for 23 points and 10 boards in the opening win over Jefferson, and followed it with a 34-19 performance against Stephens County.
