Habersham’s Hotard places fifth, while Raiders finish 16th
On Friday morning, Thomas Hotard led the Raiders to a 16th place finish at the GHSA State Meet for Class 6A. Hotard individually came in 5th, with a time of 16:40 that was just 30 seconds off his career best.
Andrew Kivett (41st), Daniel Chastain (113th), Ryan Martin (125th), Jacob Watts (162nd), Brian Talavera Jimenez (193rd), and Rucker Mills (194th) also contributed in Habersham’s best showing at state since 2009, when the boys came in 13th that season.
Since 2009, Habersham has been to state as a team for the boys just five times (2009, 2010, 2011, 2016, 2019).
The Warriors, on the flip side, were represented by Eamonn O’Bryant as an individual. The junior finished in 20th place, crossing the line with a 17:28.
The girls have finished in the top 10 at state in eight straight seasons, going back to 2012. They finished 11th in 2011. In that span, the Lady Warriors have finished top five in seven of those seasons (3rd place in 2012, 2013, and 2016). The Warriors finished 6th in 2017 and 5th in 2018.
