Banks County Commerce Featured Jefferson Lumpkin County Softball

COLUMBUS UPDATE: Banks County on the brink of first-ever state title!

Coming into Saturday, Banks County was back in the title game for the second straight season. Lumpkin and Jefferson had fallen out by Friday, and Commerce had lost to push it to play in the loser’s bracket on Saturday. Here are the results:

CLASS 2A

BANKS COUNTY

The Lady Leopards (32-3) outscored opponents 77-0 across all 5 playoff games going into the state championship on Saturday. The trend continued, as Banks County are on the brink of its first ever state title in softball. The wait is almost too much to bare, as the girls, up 4-1 late in the 5th, when weather delayed the final until Monday at 6 pm at Banks County. The good news is it gives the girls a great chance to win this on the home field!

The Lady Tigers (23-9) were downed by Gordon Lee to push them into the loser’s bracket to work back. Playing Trion at noon, the girls’ season came to a close in a 9-6 wild game.
