COLUMBUS UPDATE: Banks rolls into title game Commerce still alive; Jefferson, Lumpkin eliminated
Entering Friday action, Commerce had already advanced to the Final 4, while Banks was also in a good position. Jefferson and Lumpkin were behind the 8-ball with game one losses. Here were/are the Day 2 results. NOTE: Banks and Commerce play again later tonight. Check back for updates.
The Lady Indians (20-14) fell in the elimination game on Friday afternoon, 10-0 against Ringgold. This ends the Lumpkin County season.

The Lady Dragons (25-11) had a tough draw to open up, falling to East Hall 4-0 to fall into the loser’s bracket. Staving off elimination against Calhoun, Jefferson fell behind early 5-1 after two innings. A bases-clearing double in the fourth got them back in it, as the Lady Dragons trailed 5-4. Calhoun responded with getting one run back to push the lead to 6-4 in the fifth.
But to no surprise for anyone who knows Jefferson, the Lady Dragons stormed back to tie it up 6-6 heading into the 6th, and scored the go-ahead run to pull ahead 7-6 going into the 7th. With the bases loaded and two out in the final frame, Calhoun notched a clutch 2-run single to pull ahead 8-7 and got a couple more for a 10-7 win.

The Lady Leopards (31-3) enjoyed a second-straight blowout win in their second game at Columbus, toppling Lamar County, 8-0 to advance to the Final Four for the third straight year. With a chance to get to the finals, the girls take on Rockmart. The result was familiar, an 8-0 win to advance to the State Championship!

The Lady Tigers (23-8) opened tournament play with a noon first pitch against ECI. The result was awesome, as Commerce took a commanding 5-0 lead into the 7th. Things got a bit dicey, but the girls held on for a 5-4 victory. In the second game against Georgia Military, the girls jumped on the opposition early and often, and won easily, 9-1. Against Gordon Lee, Commerce fell 8-0 to move to the loser’s bracket.
