Broadwell, Law earn Runner of the Week

White County freshman Nealeigh Broadwell (3,323 votes) took 50% of the 6,711 total votes to claim Runner of the Week honors, holding off White County boys’ star Eamonn O’Bryant (2,688). BLITZ then named Jefferson’s Katherine Law Co-ROW.

NEALEIGH BROADWELL (FAN VOTE)

Nealeigh Broadwell has flown under the radar as a freshman, but she continues to impress as of late for White County. In her most recent performance on September 29 at the Darlington Cross Country Festival in Rome, Broadwell finished 14th overall (a career best) just three seconds behind White County teammate and star Ellie Gearing. Broadwell’s 21:44 is not her season-best, however. In prior meets, she recorded a 21:16, good for 35th and one spot behind Gearing at the Eye Opener in September.
She’s also placed 18th and 38th in two other meets this season. This is Broadwell’s first Runner of the Week honor.

KATHERINE LAW (BLITZ PICK)

Jefferson sophomore Katherine Law made school history – and that’s saying A LOT being that she goes to Jefferson, a very historic program. Law blazed her way to a school record of 18:36, good for 13th overall at the Alexander/Asics Invitational on October 5 in Douglasville. This season, the Lady Dragons’ star has placed in the top 20 in all six of her opportunities, including a top place finish at the Franklin County Invite.
Overall, she’s notched 4 top-5 finishes out of her 6 meets. This is Law’s first Runner of the Week award. She was the 8-AAA Runner-Up as a freshman last season, and came in 7th overall at state last November.
