Lumpkin, Jefferson split in 3A opening round


The Class 3A state playoffs opened up on Wednesday evening, as both Lumpkin and Jefferson hit the diamond with a chance to motor on to the next round. Brief recaps are below.

CLASS 3A
LUMPKIN COUNTY
The Lady Indians (17-12) took on #3-seed Westminster in Dahlonega. Lumpkin dominated game on, taking a 9-1 victory. In the potential clinching game two, Westminster battled back and used a 2-0 shutout to force a decisive game three to be played on Thursday.

JEFFERSON
The Lady Dragons (22-9) split with Sonoraville to force an epic game three to be played on Thursday! Jefferson won 7-6 in the second game after falling in the first, setting up the dramatic game three.
