Prince, Alexander again lead TFS in latest meet
TFS Athletics – Every middle school and high school TFS runner, sans two crossed the finish line with season bests and most ran personal records at the decades old Runners Fit Mountain Invitation. The season long heat wave didn’t deter 1,600 harriers amongst 58 teams from 42 schools in six races to traverse the Unicoi State Park grass, forest, and bridges course with personal and team aspirations of glory, relishing in the exhilarating atmosphere filled with motivating music, concert worthy cheering fans lining every nook and cranny, and peer runners feeling the camaraderie of running discomfort.
Evan Prince, who has placed in the top five at every meet so far, again set the TFS cross country school record by placing fifth of 212 varsity racers in 16:14.70. Chris Geiger moved into the top five on the TFS Legacy List while fellow senior Sophie Alexander moved to #3 on the TFS XC Legacy List, running 21:22.60 to place 18th of 177 varsity girls. Lucy Alexander, Kate Trotter, and Emma Jackson placed in the top half of varsity females.
Collin Kelly, Chaz Mullis, Eli Sims, Ethan Wanner, Walker Bailey, Canon Brooks, and Colton Augustine all finished in the upper half of junior varsity harriers.
Josie Chesser, Maggie Shelton, Haygen James, and Dani Prince all ran well to place in the top half of middle school runners, as did Blair Moore and QianFeng William Xu. The younger Tribe ended a fun season in throngs of hundreds of runners and exuberant onlookers.
TFS varsity girls finished 12th of 27 scoring teams.
Varsity boys placed 16th of 32 scoring teams.
JV boys finished 17th of 29 scoring teams.
MS girls finished 21st of 27 scoring teams.
