Crystal Ball: Week 7 BLITZ Predictions

Incredible! We were 17-1 in our predictions last week, and are now close to 85% on educated guesses. That said, they’re still guesses, and we’re sure to be wrong. However, here are our picks for Week 7.

DISCLAIMER: We dissect the numbers, check against other projections, utilize the brain and not the heart. If we pick against any of our beloved 11 programs, take it as a diss if you want, or use it as motivation. We obviously would love to see all 11 programs win every single game, so we’ll celebrate even if we’re wrong if it means our locals walk away as winners.

THE LOCALS

#2 Rabun County vs Banks County

This is a big ask of the Leopards as they host #2-ranked Rabun. Last season, the Cats put up a then-school record in points in a 68-7 win. Not sure if the spread will be 61 points this time, but WE PICK RABUN.

#8 Union County vs Elbert County

The Panthers are coming off the 5th highest shootout in GHSA history with a 74-57 win over Putnam. There was a LOT to be desired on defense, so we’ll see how they regroup against a traditionally tough Elbert County team. WE PICK UNION.

#6 Dawson County vs East Hall

The Tigers got a momentum win, 45-0 over rivals Lumpkin. East Hall will be a tougher test for the Dawson defense, but WE PICK DAWSON.

#8 Jefferson vs Franklin County

Fresh off a 70-6 win over East Jackson, Jefferson hosts Franklin County. Expect another blowout here. WE PICK JEFFERSON.

Habersham Central vs #3 Lanier

The Raiders put their 3-game win streak on the line against powerhouse Lanier. Problem is, the Longhorns have the 2nd-best offense in the region and the most stingy defense (52 pts allowed). WE PICK LANIER.

Towns County vs Riverside

The Indians host Riverside with a better shot at getting their first win that the two ranked opponents in week’s past. Riverside won’t give it to them though. They’ll have to earn it. The Eagles have a deeper roster to play with though, so WE PICK RIVERSIDE.

White County @ #5 Flowery Branch

The Warriors had their hands full with Marist on the road last week. However, they did very well in holding their own. They will probably find just as tough a road (or tougher) in Flowery Branch this time, where the Falcons are flying high this year. WE PICK FLOWERY BRANCH.

THE OTHERS

#1 Buford @ Johnson
Gainesville @ #1 Dacula
Chestatee @ #1 Marist
