THE LOCALS
Habersham Central 42, White County 28
It wasn’t a cruise to the finish, but Habersham got in the win column after seeing a 27-0 lead vanish to a slim 34-28 lead. Great performance by many players in this one. FULL RECAP


Union County 60, Towns County 7
The Panthers (2-0) had zero problems with rivals Towns County. Pierson Allison did his thing, throwing three TDs and rushing for one before coming out late in the first half. Kyle Morlock, Sawyer Drake, Jonah Daniel all scored first half TDs. It was 48-0 at the break.
Jefferson 62, West Hall 7
The Dragons finally got the losing taste out of their mouth with a beatdown of West Hall. It brought to an end the two-game losing streak going back to last year’s first round exit in the playoffs. Jefferson (1-1) got two TDs by Malaki Starks, as well as Tre Reece. It was 48-0 at the half. Seven different Dragons scored TDs.

#6 Hart County 40, #5 Commerce 20
This top-10 matchup saw the home team double up Commerce. The Tigers had a slim 10-7 first quarter lead, but trailed 14-13 at the break. The third quarter saw Hart County pull away, and the Tigers didn’t score until the fourth after going down 33-13. Tyleon Brock and Sam Roach scored the touchdowns.

#2 Athens Academy 49, Stephens County 19
Athens Academy jumped all over Stephens (1-2) to remain unbeaten on the season.
Jackson County 31, Lumpkin County 0
Lumpkin County (0-3) ran into a tough Jackson County team, and trailed 28-0 at the half. The defense played much better in the second half, while Jackson put in its JV for the running clock in the fourth.
