Crystal Ball: Week 3 BLITZ Predictions

So far this season, we are shooting a measly 74% on our picks. Perhaps we shouldn’t be the ones to ask, but maybe this week we’ll provide a bit more revelation. Of our local 11 teams, Banks, Dawson, and Rabun all have bye weeks.

DISCLAIMER: We dissect the numbers, check against other projections, utilize the brain and not the heart. If we pick against any of our beloved 11 programs, take it as a diss if you want, or use it as motivation. We obviously would love to see all 11 programs win every single game, so we’ll celebrate even if we’re wrong if it means our locals walk away as winners.

Habersham Central vs White County

Habersham has faced heartbreak in two straight losses, while White County is coming off a complete win over Lumpkin in which all facets of the game were clicking. This neighboring rivalry hasn’t played often over the years, but it has been fairly good when they do play, especially as of late. However, too small of a sample size for us to feel confident in making a pick, so we’ll let you do that in our FAN VOTE

Union County vs Towns County

The Panthers used a gigantic game by Jonah Daniel for a dominating win at East Hall to crack open the season. The game was over really by halftime, and we suspect this one to be more of the same. We pick UNION

Jefferson vs West Hall

The Dragons had a bye following a heartbreaking loss in a top-10 matchup. Jefferson will look to take it out on West Hall, who has fallen in back-to-backs to Commerce and Johnson. At home inside Memorial Stadium, we pick JEFFERSON

#5 Commerce @ #6 Hart County

The Tigers and Bulldogs square off in Commerce. The Tigers are just so good, while Hart County is also, especially after a convincing win over Stephens County. This is a Grade A Top-10 Matchup in Week 3. While Hart is at home, and a very solid program, we will go with COMMERCE

Stephens County @ #2 Athens Academy

We hate to pick against the Indians, but Athens Academy has one crazy-good weapon in WR Deion Colzie (#48 OVR, 4-star recruit C/O 2021), and will be playing on the home field. Not to mention this program is picked to be in the running for a state championship. This time anyway, we pick ATHENS ACADEMY

Lumpkin County @ Jackson County

Lumpkin looked pretty good for the Week 1 game up until the end, but looked overmatched at White County in Week 2. We’re still not quite sure what this season holds for the Indians, so this is a total guess here going off small sample sizes and home field advantage. We pick JACKSON

Predicted winners are in bold

#8 Denmark vs North Springs
Johnson vs Cherokee Bluff
East Hall vs Woodland
#10 North Hall @ Cherokee
Gainesville @ Lambert
Flowery Branch @ #9 Clarke Central
