Denton (Banks), Tullis (Jefferson), earn Player of the Week honors

For the first time in the 2019-20 school year, we have named a Player of the Week…or two. Tybee Denton, a front-runner for Player of the Year, earns the nod after winning the Fan Vote with a total of 5,646 votes of the overall 18,607. BLITZ then picked Amber Tullis to win Player of the Week honors as well. Worth noting that Habersham’s Kilee Thomas (4,429 votes) and Jefferson’s Ravyn Saxon (4,234) did awesome in the voting, as did Tullis (2,907).

Denton has picked up right where she left off. Through the initial action for the Banks County Lady Leopards, the senior pitcher has been lights out, as usual. She went 2-0 with a spotless 0.00 ERA, collecting 23 strikeouts in just 11 innings of work. She allowed only three hits and three walks. At the plate, she hit .500, driving in a run over the first two games. Denton is now a four-time Player of the Week winner after earning the recognition three times last season.

Amber Tullis is the BLITZ pick for Player of the Week, after putting up some impressive numbers in the first few contests of her senior season. The Lady Dragons’ third baseman hit .400 over the first six games, getting on base at a .525 clip. That included three singles and three doubles to go with six RBI. This is Tullis’ first POW award.
