There were so many local individuals who took home region hardware in track & field region meets last week. In fact, 51 individual region titles were claimed by local coverage area athletes, 17 claimed by Jefferson.
While there were many who won titles, a handful claimed more than one. Of those, the two that stood out last week were Jefferson’s Caitlin Schroeder and Lumpkin’s Connor Pierce, both named BLITZ Player of the Week.
CAITLIN SCHROEDER

Caitlin Schroeder is having a fantastic sophomore campaign. Following her strong cross country season in the fall of 2018, she’s chasing that with a great spring track & field season.
In the Region 8-AAA meet, she helped guide the Lady Dragons to a team region title by claiming two individual championships and a relay championship. Schroeder took the top spot in the 800 M and 1600 M, and was part of the 4×400 relay group that won region.
This is her first Player of the Week Award.
CONNOR PIERCE

Connor Pierce has been one of the fastest kids in the area, and that rang true at last week’s Region 7-AAA Championships. The senior sprinter claimed gold in the 100 and 200 meter races, and was the region runner-up in Long Jump.
Pierce, a player to watch in the upcoming state championships, makes this his second BLITZ Player of the Week Award in his career.
