Habersham & Union earn dramatic victories, Rabun falls in opening round

Three of the local teams looked to keep their seasons alive on Friday evening, but only one advanced to play another day. That came in dramatic fashion.

Habersham Central Raiders 1, South Paulding 0

The Raiders (13-3-2) won in a 1-0 thriller over South Paulding at home. Habersham now turns its attention to the Sweet 16 and opponent, #1-seed Pope.

Bremen 3, Rabun Co Wildcats 1

The Cats (6-3) fell in a hard-fought battle with Bremen, 3-1 to end the 2019 season.

Union Co Panthers 2, Lamar Co 1 (OT)

Union County (10-4) stunned #1-seed Lamar County 2-1 in overtime to advance to the Sweet 16! The Panthers will take on Gordon Central, who as a 3-seed also notched an upset win in the opening round.
