Lee McCoy 42nd in Savannah Golf Championship after entering 12th Sunday
It was a fairly good weekend for Lee McCoy in this weekend’s Savannah Golf Championship down in South Georgia. The former Habersham Central state champion (Class of 2016) currently resides in the Web.com Tour, an extension of the PGA Tour.
Heading into the final round of the Championship, former Habersham Central student and current video sports producer Glenn Ingram caught up with McCoy to get his feelings on the course and how we felt going into the final round:
McCoy entered Sunday’s fourth and final round at 8-under par, good for 12th place overall in a tough field. Consistency was the theme for the former UGA great, who shot a 70 in the opening round, following by two rounds of 69 leading into the final round. His Sunday was a big tougher, as he managed a 75 to finish 5-under for the tournament.
McCoy’s 42nd place finish was just shy of his top finish in 2019, as he previously had finished as high as 32nd at The Bahamas Great Exuma Classic at Sandals Emerald Bay. McCoy has netted some $175,000 in winnings over his young pro career with a pair of tournament wins. He’s made five PGA Tour cuts also in his career to date, and has played in the Mackenzie Tour (PGA Canada) quite a bit as well.
Ingram caught up with McCoy following his Sunday finish as well.
Ingram was on sight at the tournament in Savannah, and captured some great shots of McCoy in action.
