For the final time, a pair of Dawson County hoopsters donned the Tigers maroon and gold, while another (a junior) represented Dawson County well in the 2019 GACA All-State North/South All-Star Game. Banks County’s Carl Cleveland also played in the All-Star Game in Brunswick this past weekend.
The GACA North/South Games featured the top 24 juniors (c/o 2020) and the top 24 seniors (c/o 2019) in the state.
The senior GACA North/South game featured Dawson County’s Luke Chism, who helped guide the North to a high-scoring 130-119 victory. Chism, the BLITZ Player of the Year (along with Banks County’s Carl Cleveland [below]), was a rare 2,000-point scorer. He remains undecided on his commitment for playing at the next level. The senior North boys team was coached by Dawson’s Chad Pittman, Michael Parker, and Will Anglin.
The junior game featured two locals: Dawson’s Jasper Gibson and Banks County’s Carl Cleveland (BLITZ Co-Player of the Year). Both Gibson and Cleveland eclipsed 1,000 career points this season. The North fell to the South team, 111-92.
Dawson’s Kaylee Sticker represented the Lady Tigers in the GACA North/South senior game, and earned the MVP award in the game after leading the North with 18 points in an 81-78 victory. Dawson’s all-time leading scorer was recently named BLITZ Player of the Year.
