Over 22 thousand votes poured in over the course of some 24 hours to determine our boys and girls soccer Player of the Week. It was Erwin Durmic (8,192) of Banks County who was the overall top vote-getter, while White County’s Ansley Seabolt (7,235) was close behind to win the girls vote. 22,255 was the total tally. BLITZ also named Dawson County sophomore Molly Muenchen Player of the Week.
Erwin Durmic and the Leopards aren’t experiencing the greatest start record-wise, but the junior forward has made a splash early with goals in each of his first three games.
This is Durmic’s first Player of the Week award.
The Lady Warriors continue to thrive in 2019 with a perfect 4-0 mark. Yes, the offense has been phenomenal with 17 goals scored, but the defense and in particular the goalkeeping has been superb as well. All told, White County has outscored opponents 17-2.
Ansley Seabolt, the sophomore keeper, has recorded two shutouts and rejected 18 attempts on goal (saves). This is Seabolt’s first-ever Player of the Week award, and likely the first of many.
Dawson County’s sophomore forward Molly Muenchen is a force to be reckoned with. In the 3-1 start for the Lady Tigers, Muenchen has tallied 8 goals in just four contests.
She notched two goals each against Cartersville and Creekview, and 4 against West Hall in a 10-0 win. In her freshman season, Muenchen stormed onto the scene with 36 goals and 5 assists. Despite that track record, this is Muenchen’s first Player of the Week award.
