Jefferson and Banks County both won Friday afternoon to stay in the winner’s bracket and will resume play tomorrow morning (Saturday) at 9 AM. The previous slated time was pushed because of the weather that halted play Thursday night.
The Lady Leopards (28-9) followed up their 7-0 win over Harlem on Thursday with a 10-5 thumping of Dodge County Friday afternoon. Kya Santiago was the key to igniting the lineup, as she blasted the first of four straight homeruns in the sixth inning for Banks County, and had a three-run triple earlier in the game.
After going up 5-0, thanks in large part to Santiago’s three-run triple, Dodge County got back into it with a three spot to bridge the gap to 5-3. Banks County responded with an insurance run in the fifth, making it 6-3. Then in the bottom of the sixth, it was Santiago, Jill Martinet, Jaycie Bowen and Tybee Denton that homered in four straight at-bats.
Dodge scored two more, but the Lady Leopards’ 10-5 win pushed them to tomorrow’s 9 AM game against region rivals, Social Circle.

The Lady Dragons (29-6) also found some offense on Friday. After a 2-0 slim win on Thursday against Cook County, Jefferson came back with a huge shutout win over Brantley County. Just like Banks County, Jefferson also went deep on four straight at-bats in the top of the seventh to put the game away in a 7-0 win.
Emily Perrin was lights out in the circle, and the Lady Dragons also had back-to-back homeruns in the sixth to push the lead to 3-0 at that point. Jefferson stays in the winner’s bracket and resumes play at 9 AM Saturday against Franklin County.
