The BLITZ Game of the Week is Banks County vs Rabun County from Homer under the bright Friday night lights.
The Leopards’ first two games showed how far they needed to go to be in a spot to fight for a state playoff appearance. Their next three games showed perhaps they are ready, and the offense has really started to click. After being outscored 40-0 in the first two games, they outscored the opponents 113-27 in the next three. Terrence Walker we knew was already going to be a legit leader, as he’s among the state leaders in rushing yards; but teammate Jacob Lehotsky has been building off his solid 2017 with yet another great year. The three-game win streak has Banks County looking the part of a playoff team once again.
The Wildcats have really flexed their muscles after the season-opening loss. In four straight wins, the starters have rarely played deep into the third quarter, as they’ve outscored opponents 177-92 in the last four games. Rabun County is #3 in the state and the roster is full of collegiate-bound players, led by seniors Austin Jones, Jackson Webb, Brison Beck and Shawn Lovell, as well as junior Braxton Hicks and freshman Gunner Stockton. The question isn’t whether this team can make the playoffs, as that’s a given. It’s a question of can they make another historic run toward a state title.

The Leopards have started to make things click and we were especially impressed with the wins over Social Circle and Oglethorpe…however, Rabun County brings so much to the table in this game that it will be hard for Banks County to stop this potent offense, and hard for the the offense to find much breathing room against the front line and especially in the secondary.
