Game of the Week Preview: Stephens vs Habersham
The BLITZ Game of the Week is “The Battle for Currahee Mountain” aka Stephens County and Habersham Central in Toccoa. The long-time rivals square off in the 42nd meeting all-time.
The Indians held their own in a tough draw at #3-ranked Rabun County. Stephens County’s offense did very well for awhile with Kenny Colwell, Hudson Spurlock and Gamarion Carter doing most of the heavy lifting. The defense also forced a couple of takeaways, and it has become clear that while this team is young, they’re chalk full of playmaking athletes.
For the Raiders, it was a third straight win after opening the season with a brutal last minute loss. Habersham Central now has three or more touchdowns in 16 straight games dating back to October 2016.
Be looking for highlights post-game late tonight as well as a story recapping WEEK 4. BLITZ will also share highlights with Fox 5’s HIGH 5 Sports, so the highlights will play on Channel 5 at 11 PM. You can also follow us on Twitter (@BlitzSportsGa) for live score updates.
This one features a bitter rivalry, but many players and fans are family and long-time friends. Expect both sides to put the personal ties on the sideline when they hit the gridiron, and neither will be holding anything back. Still, we want YOU to make our pick by the majority of the FAN VOTE
