There were too many good choices for the first BLITZ Player of the Week award for the Fall 2018 season. However, Banks County senior Jaycie Bowen and Union County senior Aladriel Arnold had unforgettable opening weeks, respectively.
Jaycie Bowen had a fantastic first three games to open the season. She belted three homeruns over the opening weekend in leading the #3-ranked Lady Leopards to a perfect 3-0 start.
Bowen hit .714 on the weekend (5-for-10) with 3 HR, 6 RBI, 4 R and 3 BB. She also notched a double, slugging a ridiculous 2.143.
Aladriel Arnold led the Lady Panthers’ softball program to a 3-2 start. The senior
outfielder hit an even .500 with a homerun, driving in a mind-boggling 11 RBI and recorded a total of five extra-base hits.
Aside from the homer, Arnold had a triple and three doubles to her credit, and scored six runs.
In a 22-2 win over Pickens County, Arnold smashed a grand slam in her first at-bat in the 15-run first inning. In her second at-bat of the inning, she nearly did it again, but settled for a 2-run double off the fence.
There were plenty of others deserving of the award, including the following:
