Spencer Adams’ exciting journey continues in his path to Major League Baseball with the Charlotte Knights. Saturday evening saw the White County alum (c/o 2014) get the start against the Gwinnett Stripers at Coolray Field.
The 22-year-old picked up his first AAA win since being called up last month from AA Birmingham, a 5-0 win over the Stripers. Adams, playing in front of family and friends, got a chance to display his talents the closest to home he’s been since playing at White County for the Warriors.
Adams is now 1-2 with a 2.97 ERA at the AAA level in five starts, striking out 18 against 11 walks in 33.1 innings of work. The righty pitched seven shutout innings Saturday, surrendering just four hits and two walks while setting down four on strikes. Overall, between AA and AAA this season, he’s 4-8 with a 4.06 ERA with 71 strikeouts in 102 innings pitched.
