It’s time for baseball state playoffs! Congrats to Stephens County, Rabun County and Commerce on punching their tickets.

Class 4A – April 26-27

#4 Stephens County @ #1 Blessed Trinity

Records: Stephens County Indians (21-9); Blessed Trinity (28-2)
Matchup: This is an unfortunate draw for Stephens County, who at one point was 17-1 overall and #2 in the state. Blessed Trinity the very top team in the state of Georgia for obvious reasons. The Indians will need Dawson Sorrells and Davis Swenson to pitch the best they’ve ever pitched, and someone to come up with a timely hit or two. BT is also ranked #6 in the entire country.

Class 2A – April 26-27

#3 Rabun County @ #2 Rockmart

Records: Rabun County Wildcats (10-16); Pepperell (12-13)
Matchup: The Cats are peaking at the right time, and Pepperell allows more runs (131) than it scores (120). If Rabun’s offense can show out, and the solid pitching of Chase Horton and Grayson Lane hold up, this could be another run for the Cats!

Class 1A – April 26-27

#10 Commerce vs #23 Wheeler County

Records: Commerce Tigers (17-11); Wheeler County (12-12)
Matchup: Wheeler is spinning its wheels a little coming in, dropping six of its last eight overall, and one of those two wins was by forfeit. Commerce has now made state five years in a row, and its 17 wins are the most in over half a decade.
