The Lumpkin County Indians have released their 2018 football schedule. In the typical two-year rotation of home-and-home series between non-region and region foes, 2018 presents a brand new slate after two straight seasons of identical schedules!

The Indians’ schedule includes home games against rivals White County, Jackson County, and region foes East Hall, North Hall and Fannin County.

*7-AAA region matchup

The Indians went 1-9 in 2017 under coach Shane Williamson, who has a combined 5-15 mark in two seasons as head coach. Lumpkin County has had four head coaches since the 2012 season, with Tommy Jones (2006-12), Brad Waggoner (2013), Ty Maxwell (2014-15) and Williamson (2016-Present).

The Indians last made the playoffs in 2014 in Maxwell’s first season, going 5-6 overall while falling at Elbert County in the opening round that year. In its history, Lumpkin has a .331 win percentage, making the state playoffs five times total, including four straight seasons from 2000-2003 under coach George Hoblitzell. However, Lumpkin has never won a playoff game, standing at 0-5 all-time in postseason play.

Note the final regular season game at the brand new Cherokee Bluff high school in Flowery Branch. This pits the Indians against former head coach Tommy Jones, who heads up the Bears program after being head coach at Dacula since leaving Lumpkin County. Jones was 37-22 at Dacula, winning three region titles and making four state playoff runs in five seasons (including three trips to the Sweet 16 and one Quarterfinals run).
