Jefferson’s standout junior golfer Zachary Moore was consistent all season, and comes away with top BLITZ honors as Golfer of the Year!

Moore carved out a 12th-place finish in a tough region with a 78. He followed that up at state with an 11th-place finish just outside the top-10. He finished with a 157.

Voting included our 21-person panel made up of sports reporters, writers, video producers, former coaches, players, GHSA officials, and sports experts. The voting is Heisman-style, with the following points system:
1st place votes: 5 pts; 2nd: 3 pts; 3rd: 2 pts; 4th: 1 pts; 5th-6th: 0.5 pts; 7th-8th 0.25 pts

Oddly, last year’s winner Will Bowen was the 2nd-place finisher despite not collecting any 1st-place votes. It was divided pretty good in the voting, though Moore’s 12 1st-place votes was the difference. Four of the finalists had at least two top tallies.
