Through each full week of sports in the school year, we’ll recognize the Teams of the Week, brought to you by Cofield Outdoors!

Baseball – Jefferson Dragons

The Dragons (21-7) clinched the Region Championship. Jefferson has seven wins in a row, and have outscored opponents 223-111. Sweeping East Hall last week including wins of 16-0, 15-0, and 18-0.

Boys Soccer – Union County Panthers

The Panthers are now 14-1 overall and 7-1 in region play. Union County has won nine straight, and have a goal count of 46-14. They beat rivals Towns County 3-2 a couple of weeks ago prior to Spring Break, as well as Pickens and Rockmart. All those games were on the road! They hold a #1 state ranking!

Girls Soccer – Lumpkin County

Before going on Spring Break, Lumpkin County beat Johnson in PKs (2-1) and then Commerce by a 6-0 final, both at home. The Lady Indians have gone 12-1 overall with the lone loss coming to GAC in a 7-0 final. Other than that game, this team has been unbelievable with a goal differential of 76-2.

Baseball – Habersham Central Raiders

The Raiders started the year 0-3 with tough losses to top-notch programs. Since February 21, Habersham is 6-0! In the last four games, the Raiders have beaten Stephens County, Jefferson, Jackson, and Flowery Branch. Stephens and Jefferson were avenging prior losses, and both of those teams are top-5 ranked.

Boys Soccer – Franklin County Lions

The Lions produced back-to-back wins last week over Rabun County by a 3-0 final and a 12-2 blowout of Elbert County.

Girls Soccer – Union County Lady Panthers

The Lady Panthers shut out both of their opponents last week, beating Gordon Central 8-0 and North Cobb Christian 4-0 to open region play. Union is rolling at 5-0 on the year.
