The remnants of the incredible 2023 season were in play in 2025, as the Lumpkin County Indians won six games and made a fourth straight playoff run. The ’23 quarterfinal run stands as the best season in school history, and some of those key players graduate this spring.
Coach Heath Webb now enters year five, and will have to retool a good chunk of the roster, including at QB and RB. The WR group coming back is fantastic, with Martin Hulsey and MacLane Powell, who combined for more than 1,000 yards and 10 TD. Losing 2,000-yard rusher Nolan Matthews, QB Mason Hester, and defensive stalwarts Caleb Wendl, Wolf Harbin, and Mike Nichols stings, but Weston Veater and Kolson Howell will be a couple that’ll be worth keeping an eye on, as well as Rylan Armstrong (OL). There’s a LOT to replace, and the schedule is tougher than it was a year ago.

Lumpkin County has announced its 2026 Schedule. We dissect the slate, going game-by-game with our way-too-early predictions for the regular season. The following insight depends heavily on the known – returning or departing players, incoming players we know of, etc. The unknown is the other side of the same coin – some unknown up-and-coming middle school talent, JV standouts, move-ins, etc.
