Through each full week of sports in the school year, we’ll recognize the Teams of the Week, brought to you by Cofield Outdoors!

Girls Basketball – Rabun County Lady Wildcats

The Lady Wildcats appear to be peaking at the perfect time. Rabun was the lone girls team from our area to make the GHSA Elite 8. While there’s always talk about Millie Southards, Adelyn Thompson, and Addy Beth Owens, it was Conley Spivey who perhaps had one of the biggest performances of her career in the second round win.

Boys Basketball – Rabun County Wildcats & Commerce Tigers

The Wildcats produced blowout wins in the first and second round of state, and just continue to thrive. Commerce can say the same, after slipping past Social Circle, the Tigers won big over Swainsboro. Both are in the Elite 8.

Baseball – Habersham Central Raiders

The Raiders started the year 0-3 with tough losses to top-notch programs. Since February 21, Habersham is 6-0! In the last four games, the Raiders have beaten Stephens County, Jefferson, Jackson, and Flowery Branch. Stephens and Jefferson were avenging prior losses, and both of those teams are top-5 ranked.

Boys Soccer – Franklin County Lions

The Lions produced back-to-back wins last week over Rabun County by a 3-0 final and a 12-2 blowout of Elbert County.

Girls Soccer – Union County Lady Panthers

The Lady Panthers shut out both of their opponents last week, beating Gordon Central 8-0 and North Cobb Christian 4-0 to open region play. Union is rolling at 5-0 on the year.
