Through each full week of sports in the school year, we’ll recognize the Teams of the Week, brought to you by Cofield Outdoors!

Football – N/A

All teams are off, but you could put in any of the six that made the playoffs – Franklin, Habersham, Jefferson, Lumpkin, Rabun, and Stephens. They’re all hard at work getting ready for the first round.

Girls XC – Dawson County Lady Tigers

Dawson County placed 3rd overall at state, with Hayden Hand finishing 4th, Addison Smith 26th, Maria Gloeckner 28th, and Ella Carrington 29th.

Boys XC – Union County Panthers

Holden Payne was the individual State RU for a 3rd place Panthers team. Andrew Nushtayev was 27th and Ander Faulkner 29th.

Boys Basketball – Franklin County Lions

The Lions got off to a blistering start with an 80-46 victory against Oglethorpe County, as Bentley Huff dropped his 1,000th career point.

Girls Basketball – Commerce Lady Tigers

Commerce rolled to a 67-29 win over Towers to open their season. The girls got 19 points from Vee Williams, 14 from Niya Daniels, and 11 apiece from Taylor Clark and Jurnee Vann. The Lady Tigers look solid early on.
