The Week Twelve BONUS Game of the Week takes us to Towns County for the first time in five years, as the Indians look to make some history.

TOWNS COUNTY

The Indians use to barely have enough players to field a team. Since Jason Roquemore has taken over, the program has generated a lot of excitement. It hasn’t always netted results, but the move to bypass a region schedule and play opponents at will has been HUGE for Towns County. The Indians have been rewarded with now 11 wins over the past two seasons, and a roster that exceeds 40 players. A win Friday night would tie the Towns record with seven wins (2008), and the offense with 26 points would become the 2nd-highest scoring team in history (2008 had more than 100 more).

ROCK SPRINGS CHRISTIAN

Rock Springs Christian plays in the 11-man league. The trajectory of the Eagles has been similar to Towns County, as they too have won 13 games in the past two seasons following a rough couple year stretch. This is a fairly young team with not a ton of seniors, but on the rise. However, this program has had some huge mountain moments, such as winning the 2021 State Championship in current coach Clint Ashmore’s first season. They made the State Quarterfinals a season ago.

OUR PREDICTION

We typically make a case for both, with our official pick linked below. Let’s begin with the Indians. If Alex Baert, who already has north of 1,000 yards on the season, is doing his usual, Towns County is going to open things up. If they zone in on Baert, Dustin Barrett is going to have a heyday and pick the defense apart. If those things happen, look for a relatively comfortable margin of victory for the Indians. For the Eagles to win, it’s going to take multiple turnovers, and capitalizing on those. OUR PICK: SEE HERE

DO WE BRING LUCK?

For Towns County, the Indians have gone 0-5 overall in our five games covered for them going back to 2012. That said, this is the best Towns County team we’ve seen since 2021, when we saw them lose a tight one at home to Commerce.
